Children

We Sow Siem Reap

Inspired by the December 2009 Volunteer trip to Cambodia upon return the volunteers decided to hold an event to raise some much needed money for the children of Cambodia. The event was held with the support of Martin Place Bar who not only provided the venue free of charge, but also donated much of the proceeds raised through the sale of drinks and food over the evening. The organisers were also able to engage a major beverage company who helped them secure Martin Place Bar as the venue and also provided cost-price stock for use on the day.

With a projected crowd of 150 people the amount, the event was set to raise $2,000. Through the use of Facebook, email and advertising by Martin Place Bar the event drew in excess of 220 people, including patrons of the bar who spontaneously decided to donate because of the good cause.

The night was enjoyed by all that came and raised a massive $4,456 for the children of Cambodia. To find out where the money raised went to, please click this link.

A special thank you to Ada Ip, Thomas Chan, Annu Hiu, Caroline Alduras, Karthik Narayan, Dilan Ponnudurai (2009 volunteers) and also Martin Place bar for helping to organise and make this event such a success.

A special note from Palmera
Palmera was thoroughly impressed with the success of We Sow Siem Reap – Karthik was extremely effective in leading the organization of the night and importantly, was instrumental in securing the help of a major beverage sponsor. The Palmera team is grateful for the effort that was put into the event by the Cambodia volunteers, and are thrilled with the whopping amount that was raised…thank you Karthik!!
