Palmera Projects Launches First Big Event for 2010, A Celebration of Freedom

24 June 2010 – Palmera Projects will be hosting their first big event for this year, Enchanted – A Cocktail Night to Captivate. The night will be held on the 7th of August 2010 at Coach bar, situated in GPO, Martin Place. Highlights of the night will include live performances from Sydney’s favoured underground urban band BrowN SugaR, and a photography exhibition which celebrates the concept of ‘freedom’.

Palmera Projects’ director Abarna Raj says, “Enchanted provides an avenue for like minded adults to socialise whilst making a difference to communities near and far”. The event will also include a competition for photography enthusiasts to portray their concepts of ‘freedom’, with finalist entries displayed and auctioned off on the night.

The youth of Sydney are invited to join in the festivities and help raise funds for Palmera Projects’ humanitarian works in Australia, Sri Lanka and Cambodia that assist vulnerable individuals and communities through life skills, education and health.

When asked why Palmera Projects has selected those countries to assist, Raj responds, “We see what avenues of assistance we can provide, and where we can make a difference. Man is man and we do not discriminate”.

Previous events by Palmera Projects’ include Human Race of 2009. A strategic adventure held in both Sydney and Melbourne that raised over $120, 000 for Australia’s Father Riley’s Youth Off the Streets, Asylum Seekers and Resource Centre, Caritas, and World Vision’s crisis program in Sri Lanka. Raj states, “The level of success achieved by a small community has made a difference to lives across the globe. An event that started with a handful of youths has grown interstate with over 100 people competing to race for humanity”..

She continues, “We hope Enchanted this year will reach the same level of success and continue to touch the lives of others. Young and old are welcome to participate and help make a difference”.
