The Journey Begins

Just a quick note before a few of us volunteers head to Cambodia for the adventure of a lifetime. With all of our flights booked, visas approved and a bit of money exchanged we are all gearing up to say goodbye to our family and friends in what will be our last couple of days in Australia for 2009.

So what does this journey that we are about to begin have in store for us. Well to be honest I have no Idea, over the past couple of weeks people have been saying that this trip will be a life changing experience, something that will leave a mark on me (as well as the other volunteers) but I guess once I am through I will be able to reflect and understand what I (we) have actually done.

What I do know is what has been told to us by some of the greatest leaders and a simple quote from Mahatma Gandhi

“The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others”

helps me understand that this trip will have some form of  effect on me and the fellow volunteers that will be travelling to Cambodia.

So with the excitement growing and the clock ticking down for our flights I want to wish all of you a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Please do follow our blog which I our one of the volunteers will be updating every day of our journey.
