CHANGE HAS COME (Read the whole thing, and if you don't produce a single tear drop, I'll give you your time back.. maybe).
My fellow facebookers,
We did it. We won The Human Race. On Sunday the 28th, The Merovingians crossed the finish line 1st to take victory. They did it through smashing the challenges, luck and our support.
Thanks to your ad space purchases (pictures coming soon!), we reached the el grande total of $900. Though it was a mere drop in the great Palmera ocean of $74 000 (and still counting) raised for our charities.
If there is anyone out there who still doubts that The Human Race is a race where all things are possible; who still wonders if the dream of our founders, (Palmera Projects) is alive in our time; who still questions the power of humanity, this day was your answer.
It's the answer told by lines that stretched around Hyde Park and Cockatoo Island.
It's the answer that led those who have been told for so long by so many to be cynical, and fearful, and doubtful of what we can achieve to put their hands on the arc of history and bend it once more toward the hope of a better day.
It's been a long time coming, but on Sunday, because of what we did on this day, in this race, at this defining moment, change has come to The Human Race.
But above all, I will never forget who this victory truly belongs to - it belongs to you.
We were never the likeliest candidate for this title. We didn't start with much money or many endorsements. Our campaign was not hatched in the halls of professional fundraisers and corporate credit cards - it began in the backyards of Castle Hill and the living rooms of Colyton and the front porches of Toongabbie.
It was built by working men and women who dug into what little savings they had to give $20 and $30 and $50 to the cause.
This is your victory.
Thank you, bless you and bless the United People of Palmera.
